prayer disciplines
I've been preparing for the Parish Academy class on Spiritual Life that begins in September. The Lord has kindly let me stumble upon several interesting resources. One is a series of short videos by Fr. Jim Martin on various prayer disciplines that the Church has treasured and taught. (You may recognize Fr. Martin from his recent book My Life With the Saints and his appearances as the "chaplain" of the Colbert Report.)
I will be sharing these three short presentations with the Spiritual Life class but if you can't join up, take a look from here. In these clips Fr. Martin discusses Ignatian Contemplation, lectio divina, and centering prayer. Those are all short and serious. If you'd just like some chuckles, watch this.
